Join this informative tour to take in the many delights of local history that Moray Street offers.
MEET at the front of the Merthyr Road Uniting Church Centre, 52 Merthyr Rd before embarking on a 90-minute walk which will focus on Moray Street, designated in 1993 as “Brisbane’s Most Liveable Street”.
Moray Street was likely named by early settler George Raff, a Scot from Morayshire. His homestead Moraybank was once where today’s Thistle Cafe is located.
We will pause before spots such as Linden, the Knells, Julius St, the Moreton Club, and Casa del Mar, before taking in the panorama of the Story Bridge.
By the time we return to Merthyr Village, morning tea will have been very well-earned.
Your tour guide will be Gerard Benjamin, author of four wonderfully-informative books about New Farm history, including the recent popular title, New Farm: Another 50 Stories.
8:30 – 10:00 am | Merthyr Road Uniting Church Centre, 52 Merthyr Rd
