Joining the Society

Joining the NFDHS opens up a world of adventure of history buffs and community-minded residents alike.

People who are interested in the history of New Farm and the surrounding districts are invited to become members of the Society for just $20 a year from 2024.

From October 2024, the Society is offering a special deal for new and lapsed members.

You may apply for 2025 membership at our September public meeting or anytime afterwards and receive free membership for the remainder of 2024.That means half- priced entry for the September, October and November public meetings as well as eligibility for discounted prices for walking tours and other events.
To take advantage of this offer, after checking in with Phil at the Entry Gate, simply sign in at the Non-Members Welcome Table and then proceed to the Membership Table where one of our friendly volunteers will assist you.

Membership forms will be available at the meeting and via this website from 28 September. Current members are encouraged to renew their membership for 2025 as
soon as possible, and preferably before January 31, 2025.Those who wish to apply for, or renew, their membership at one of our public meetings, may visit the Membership Table, complete the relevant form, and pay $25, which will cover the application fee as well as the entry fee for the meeting. Cash or cards will be accepted.

Many people who have lived in New Farm at some period in their life choose to maintain the connection to the area through membership, thus ensuring they receive the monthly newsletter and adding to the archival material with their oral and written history memories and photos. Our membership is much wider than people who currently reside in the area.

Membership supports the work of the Society in Gathering information from the past …… Preserving it for the future.

Members can be involved in the Society in a variety of ways:

  • Becoming a Committee member
  • Welcoming at meetings
  • Set up / clear up of room
  • IT support at meetings
  • Assisting with afternoon tea
  • Advising on new technology
  • Collecting Oral Histories
  • Assisting with archives
  • Writing short historical items for website
