Historical Plaques of New Farm and Teneriffe

You’ve perhaps heard that our New Farm and Districts Historical Society has sponsored plaques around our peninsula to mark historic buildings and locations , but do you know how many there are and precisely where they are?

There are 21 of them sponsored by us. On a 2 km walk along the river walkway from the end of Merthyr Street to just up Commercial Road  from the Teneriffe ferry terminal you can find 15 of the 21.

Society member, Austin Adams, has narrated a tour that will walk visitors through them all.

The narrated tour shows a copy of each plaque so that, if you watch the presentation on a computer , you’ll be able to stop at each plaque and zoom in on it to make it easier to read. In that way you can take the tour from your armchair. If you go on the tour, it’s a 2 km walk to cover most of the plaques not counting the walk back.

If you would prefer, you can download a PDF of the tour to go through it at your own pace.

The narrated tour is on Vimeo with our other monthly talks, here.

If you’re adventurous, you could fire up this presentation on your phone, set it going and pause it while you do the necessary walking between plaque locations.

Allow some hours and at least 4 km of walking
