Early in 2023, French filmmaker Franck Decluzet contacted the New Farm & Districts Historical Society seeking to include local homes as part of a film that would depict unique features of Queensland for French viewers.
The filmmaker’s specific interest in New Farm related to the “Queenslander” house.
What we accept as commonplace apparently proves fascinating for the French.
Filming at homes in Sydney Street, Bowen Terrace and Waverley Street was arranged in April 2023. The result is this 2:27 minute film which includes local real estate agent Ivo Kornel explaining the architectural attributes of “The Queenslander”
The tourism film in its final form is expected to appear on the national Channel France 5, before being distributed worldwide.
